Get Hitched, Give Hope!

A few weeks ago, I had the joy and good fortune of being part of Get Hitched, Give Hope! GHGH raises money to grant wishes for stage IV breast cancer patients. This year, over $64,000 was raised! Seattle wedding vendors donate their time and services to make it all happen. Along with Erin Skipley, I prepped the models’ hair and make up for the event at the Seattle Four Seasons.

The models wore gowns and accessories from La Belle Reve. Kim and Adam Bamberg of La Vie Photography were on hand capturing every detail.

My collection: necklaces

Here are a few of my fave necklaces. They all happen to be vintage, though I’m not sure on the origin of them. They also happen to be gold. I used to prefer silver, though now I’m attracted more to gold.

Blue stone – My mom gave this to me last year at Christmas. She found it some time again at a second-hand shop.

Round locket – I had been looking for a locket for the longest time. I found this one after taking and passing my state board test.

Floral heart – Another piece courtesy of my mom. It might be mother of pearl? Whatever it is, I think it’s adorable.

Next up from my collection? Some rings!

Laina & Raymond’s Wedding

The details of Laina and Raymond’s wedding just warm my heart. Remember that dress I recognized? Well, this is that wedding. I’ve been waiting impatiently for these photos from GH Kim Photography. And my goodness, it has been worth the wait! The bridal party got ready for the day at the WAC, which is where I and the other Bellatrix gals met them for hair and makeup. Talk about a beautiful bridal party! I’ve already gushed about the bridesmaid dresses, and Laina’s gown was stunning! Laina’s mom made adorable belts for the bridesmaids which, along with countless other sweet touches, created a truly personal event! And the Sodo Park reception? Simply gorgeous. My collection: brooches

My apologies for the delay of this post. I’m later with it than promised. In planning to blog about my jewelry, I also had the chance to clean and organize my collection.

First, a few of my favorite brooches.

Smoky quartz – One of the many pieces I’ve sorta taken from my mom. You can see some of the small stones have fallen out, probably due to me playing with it since childhood.

Cameo – The prettiest cameo I have. It was my grandma’s.

Floral mosaic – My mom recently gave me this one. I’m looking forward to wearing it for the first time.

I’ll have more pieces to showcase in the coming days.

Short hair brides

While I continue to fight with my camera, which refuses to transfer is content onto my PC, I’ll share some hair inspiration I came across today. Because we all need inspiration. And I’m looking for it. So today, short hair brides.

Perhaps I should have saved this image for last, as it’s my absolute favorite. Her cut is perfect. Plus the crochet headband, simple stud earrings, soft makeup. Oh, and the flowers! So much about this picture is perfect to me.

I love the texture of this brides hair. And her hair flower is just the right size! You don’t want your hair flower to take over your head. She has it mastered.

Jewelry style

I love jewelry. Though it may not always be evident, since I often forget to wear it, but my jewelry box is overflowing. Soon, I’ll take some blog-worthy photos of my pieces, but for now, I’ll leave you with a few pieces I wish were in my collection.

I love the detail on this enamel and sterling silver locket. And the colors. And the fact that it’s a locket. Because you know, it’s fun to have jewelry with hinges.

These vintage rings are beautiful, yet seemingly impractical. They look fragile, so I’d fear they’d break. Therefore, I’d like one in each color please.

OK, at first glance, these might be a bit too old lady chic, even for me. But I still want to wear them. With a belted cardigan, my hair up and maybe a beret.

Hair pieces, vintage and whimsy

I loooove hair pieces! While working at weddings, I see plenty of traditional-like veils, but honestly, I wish I saw more brides and their maids sporting some form of these fun accessories!

This whimsical crown looks like it was crafted in your backyard on a summer day. Maybe you were just picking some flowers? And decided to make a crown while you were at it. I love what it evokes!

I love the crown on the left, and though I’m not sure about the birds on the right, the right bride could rock it.

One of, if not the cutest bow headbands ever! The color and texture of the hair? Equally as fabulous.

A totally effortless style. Simply adorable!

And finally, this headband. This is major bridal inspiration for me. Gorgeous!

Pretty at Nordstrom

In May, I assisted the lovely Erin Skipley as she readied Molly Ringwald for an appearance at the Bellevue Nordstrom. Molly was a true delight! While Molly’s husband dressed their 6 year old daughter Mathilda, Erin and I helped Molly get pretty. Which brings us to the reason for her visit, promoting her new book, Getting the Pretty Back.

As Molly spoke of her book, her passion was clear! And once I finish the 4+ books I’m in the middle of reading, I’d like to start hers!

Totally slacking

That sums up my blogging status. But not for long, I have a plan.

Expect some changes. Expect some revamping. Most importantly, expect more consistent blogging!

For now, though, I’ll leave you with this picture taken at the dahlia garden in Golden Gate Park on our recent trip to SF. Because is makes me happy.
